I use the standard Ladders and a Ram, just in case the Ram decides to work and its crew properly assaults the inner gate. Units stuck at the top of the tower, blocked by cosmetic greeble bits and the like because the navmesh does not intersect properly, etc, are particular annoyances, too. I have only rarely used Towers after seeing them being full-of-fail too many times to count and after witnessing whatever "rally points" they have set up also failing as a result. or, I could just be yammering out my own excretory orifice as I haven't even looked at anything on that beyond the basic instructions/manual for the "construction kit." :) (Pathing shouldn't be considering unit collision boxes, but./shrug?) ie: Unit sees it is a valid connection, move to tower, tower contact/use forces the "climbing" animation that is not "pathing" dependent.

So, if that was the case, they may need an additional mechanic to force units to "See" that Tower as a valid path and to navigate up those ladders if there are also units on a ladder. But, the more rays you have to have in order to negotiate finely detailed walkable surfaces, the more load it places on an engine. I assume it's some kind of ray-trace pathing engine, which is generally very efficient. Basically, any more narrow of a path than that and it's too finely detailed for the engine to figure out. It's "maybe" a case of the developers having to "fix" a problem with pathing requiring a minimum navmesh "width." 1.3 or 1.8 meters, or something like that, is the narrowest a navmesh path that the pathfinding engine can use effectively. I am somewhat surprised that they still climbed up the other two ladders on that one Tower while other units were also climbing on the one nearest their chosen rally-point/destination. They "see" the path occupied by other units as either being blocked or having some other less-desirable value and now "see" those other ladders as a viable choice. The units on those other ladders have no other "shortest path" choice at all. This is a result of them not having any other path and reacting to that fact. So basicly my conclussion if one siege tower can be used by 3 groups of ai.
